Career Development Expo

Shannon Carpenter
The Career Development Expo is a tool to assist residents in advancing their careers by providing connections and training under one roof.
Different from a typical career fair, the goal of the Career Development Expo is to educate high school juniors and seniors, the unemployed, and the under-employed on the variety of careers our area has to offer as well as the skills needed to obtain these jobs and the wages they pay. When an attendee arrives they can review the handout to see what jobs our area will be hiring for in the next 3-5 years. They then approach an employer to inquire about those positions that interest them. Once they've learned about the requirements for the position, they can approach a training or education facility to sign-up for he programming they need to be eligible. In addition, resume and interview workshops, an HR panel, and a Success Story panel are all offered to assist attendees.
