Seek in the City

Marcia Arseneault
This community scavenger hunt brings funding to education while promoting the city and our member businesses in a fun, interactive way.
Created 3 years ago by the Chamber’s non-profit council, this event aims to increase traffic and awareness to Chamber member businesses in the summer (our off season) and to raise much needed funding for educational initiatives in Delray Beach. Teams of up to 5 participants are provided with clues to stops throughout the city. The 60-70 member businesses who participate are given a QR code to post and city landmarks are similarly marked. Points are awarded at each stop and the teams are given a 3 hour window to collect as many points as possible. The teams must arrive together, scan the QR code and take a picture (usually a selfie) of the entire team. The QR code system electronically tracks the seekers progress by tallying clue stop check points in real time, while ensuring that teams stick together and capturing every moment of the hunt with smart phone photo uploads. A trophy is awarded to the winning team and prize medallions to all 1st, 2nd and 3rd place team members. Those teams that created costumes are given the opportunity to win best costume. And, of course, they all get the glory and bragging rights!
