Kudos Awards

Lynn Minturn
We create a lip-sync video as a novel approach to introducing all our award nominees at our annual awards dinner.
Rather than produce another typically formatted annual dinner, we've put a fresh twist on our awards program and rebranded our event so that ALL nominees are highlighted and included in the program rather than just the winners. Each year, we produce a lip-sync video featuring nominees dancing and "singing" along to the recorded track of a well-known song. We've done, We Go Together (Grease), Takin' Care of Business(Bachman, Turner Overdrive) and this year, Happy by Pharrell Williams. We consciously pick a song that is not only upbeat with great lyrics but also to tie into the theme of volunteerism. When you watch the video, you'll see a few fuzzy shots, some good and bad dancing and questionable lip-dubbing, but you'll also see Chamber members having a ball on camera. We even include bloopers at the end. The evening includes a silent and live auction, a 50/50 cash raffle and a different setting each year for photos. This year we purchased an old door and made it into a photo booth. Participants could grab props and take photos to their hearts content. At each place setting, we include a Kudos Bar and free passes to upcoming chamber programs. The video premiers during the dinner with winners announced afterwards. Winners receive a beautiful glass trophy and a certificate of recognition from the Governor's office. The entire project is done by the Chamber Director and a talented college student for less than $100.
