Health & Wellness Mini Grant

Olivia DelGarbino
We awarded nine mini-grants to members who have 25 or fewer employees to create or supplement healthy living initiatives in the workplace.
Partnering with the Sandusky County Safety Council, we offered grants to employers with 25 or fewer employees who are members of Safety Council and/or the Chamber of Commerce to create or supplement healthy living initiatives in the workplace. We awarded a total of $3,790 to 9 different small businesses, affecting 80 employees. By increasing the overall wellness of their employees, they will not only increase productivity through reduced absenteeism, they show investment in their employees and therefore experience increased employee retention. Grants were applied for in the areas of fitness, nutrition, stress management or customized, and the applicants filled out a short application that included their previous efforts, goals, program details and cost estimate. Program ideas and a resource list was provided along with the application. Both employee and employer evaluations will be required at the end of the grant period to assess effectiveness.
