Dundee 4th of July Festivities and Fireworks Display

The Dundee Area Chamber of Commerce sponsored a table at the festivities to raise awareness of the Chamber in the community.
The Town of Dundee invited the Dundee Area Chamber of Commerce to sponsor a table at its 4th of July festivities event. I am the new Executive Director of the Chamber, and I wanted to meet the people in our community and promote the Chamber. I decorated our table with a new Chamber banner, "Your Partner For a Thriving Community," flags and red-white-and-blue banners. I created two "quizzes," one for adults and one for children, with multiple-choice questions about Independence Day. Five winners of the children's quiz received Subway gift cards, and winners of the adult quiz received a two-night, two-person cruise to Freeport, Grand Bahamas. The Chamber is also using the cruises as a fundraiser, and I was able to sell some at the event. We have a large banquet space in our building, and I created new brochures which generated interest (and a few rentals) of our facility. I have only been in this position for three months, and am focusing on re-energizing the chamber; bringing in new members and making sure we are out there working with the community. I feel this first event for me was successful, as it promoted the Chamber and I was able to speak with many business owners who were not aware of the Chamber's presence in our community. I am looking forward to a long association with the Dundee Area Chamber, and functions like this will be a valuable way to promote the Chamber and form long-lasting relationships in the local business community.
